WPSI Advisory Panel Member Appointed California’s New Surgeon General

Dr Diana Ramos

Governor Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Dr. Diana Ramos as California Surgeon General. The role of Surgeon General was established in 20219 and serves as the key spokesperson on public health issues throughout the state and advisor to the Governor. The WPSI congratulates Dr. Ramos on her new role!

Dr. Diana E. Ramos is a well-recognized public health opinion leader and adjunct Associate Professor, at the Keck University of Southern California School of Medicine. She serves as chair for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG) California & Ecuador (IX) District, secretary for the executive board of the National Hispanic Medical Association, and an Advisory Panel member and DISC co-chair for the WPSI. She serves on many national and international women’s health improvement and equity committees. Her areas of expertise include health disparities, social determinants of health, prepregnancy/interpregnancy health, preterm birth, contraception and quality improvement in health.
