WPSI Mourns the Passing of Edith Mitchell, MD

Edith Mitchell, MD was a pioneer and leader in oncology, dedicated to eliminating health disparities, and was the first female physician in the Air Force or Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard to be promoted to brigadier general. She truly lived an extraordinary life, and we are honored to have worked with her on the WPSI since its start as a Multidisciplinary Steering Committee (MSC) member representing the National Medical Association. Dr. Mitchell was a WPSI MSC member, director of the Center to Eliminate Cancer Disparities, professor, and enterprise vice president for cancer disparities at Jefferson health’s Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.
